7 fun facts about Hillary Clinton
After months of speculation it was finally confirmed last Sunday, Hillary is going to run for president of the United States in 2016. Very exciting news, will she be the first female president to continue Obama’s wind of change?
With the third season of House of Cards behind us and this invigorating news we are looking forward to this legislative race and celebrate by giving you 7 fun facts about Madame the President (possibly), that have absolutely nothing to do with politics whatsoever.
Hillary got her ears pierced when she was well into adulthood. She always loved wearing earrings so she wore clips for a long time. Daughter Chelsea wasn’t allowed to have her ears pierced as a child. Hilary told people magazine that at the time she was afraid of infections.
She hasn’t been behind the wheel since 1996. The former First Lady and minister has been chauffeured for the past 20 years. She is not planning on driving anytime soon and it doesn’t look like it will be a probability in the years to come.
She wore orange trousers to her school prom. An old classmate told people magazine she wore pants instead of a dress to the chic Wellesley Collage prom, “ An amazing extravagant outfit. Floor-length culottes in bright orange which she wore with feathers and big bracelets.” Awesome!
When she was younger and feeling down she would head towards the gym for a hefty workout. Later on Dressing up with daughter Chelsea became her new stress relief therapy. Chelsea is featured on the cover of the American ELLE this month.
There were moments when Hillary’s income was higher than Bill’s. End eighties and at the beginning of the nineties she brought in a substantial income as a lawyer. She made the list of most influential lawyers in the USA, twice. Husband Bill was working for the American Government at the time on a way lower paycheck.
Hillary is not known for her designer outfits but there is one designer she loves, Oscar de la Renta, a personal friend of the Clintons. During the inauguration of her husband as president she was wearing one of his creations.
Hillary has her own recipe for making chocolate chip cookies.
Ingredients:
- Vegetable oil
- 1.50 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. solid vegetable shortening
- 1 c. light brown sugar
- 0.25 c. granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 c. old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease baking sheets with vegetable oil.
- Combine flour, salt, and baking soda on waxed paper.
- Beat together shortening, sugars, and vanilla in large bowl with an electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs, beating until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in flour mixture and rolled oats. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Drop batter by well-rounded teaspoonfuls onto baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden.
- Cool cookies on sheets for 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
