7 things you need to know when going to ibiza

Even amongst our hip and happening Amayzine staff we have an Ibiza-virgin. In that case it’s very important you read this. But even if you’ve been before this just might enlighten you.

an outpost

This is important for you to know to keep your expectations in place. The Dutch see Ibiza as a sunny beautiful outpost of The Netherlands. Nine out of the ten people you see here are probably Dutch. Nice Dutch people, but nonetheless Dutch. If there not Dutch, they’re probably British.

fines go in halves

I had an inkling that on this happy go lucky island there are hardly any alcohol control posts, but the locals have assured me there are. A sip of Hierbas will cost you around 500 euros if caught driving under the influence. But if you promptly show up at the police station the next day and pay cash, they only charge you half. Very obliging of them.

dogs and beaches

I’ve said this before. Your dog is your ticket to becoming a local. But they are banned from most beaches so don’t sneak them on because once caught you get fined. The worst part is they take the dog too. Just like towing away a car. Not nice.

how many Chiringuito’s?

One of the hippest spots on Ibiza is Chiringuito, the one I’m talking about is on Es Cavallet. Since this weekend there’s another Chiringuito. You’ll find it in a little bay on the north east coast: Aguas Blancas. I’ll check it out for you tomorrow. #someonehastodoit

the La Paloma menu

La Paloma, one of the cutest restaurants on the island San Lorenzo, sometimes they will serve Lebanese food and sometimes it’s Italian. Weird? Well, two chefs share the kitchen. During the day it’s a Lebanese and an Italian works there in the evenings. Both serve divine food.

Ibiza is easy

If you think you have to walk around here looking your best, you’re wrong. The Ibiza-look is the most understated look you can imagine. Beachy hair, something with fringe, a kaftan and flats. Want the 2015 Ibiza look? Wear a headband Indian style. Will it improve your looks? I don’t know but you’ll blend in nicely.

two important words

Después means after. So you want the shrimp after you starter.
Más means more. Use it when you want one more of something.
