Eye shadow; Pigment versus Nude. The fight is on. In the right hand corner we have ‘rich colors’ and in the left-hand corner it’s ‘subtle glow’. Bring it on girls and remember, fight fair and square.

Round 1:

PIGMENT

Coco: “Bright colors cover faster than nudes. You need less so a palette lasts longer, Money saver!”

Josselin: “The level of pigment is important in nudes. They don’t cover as well as colors so you need to twirl that brush for a good result. But let’s be honest you don’t choose nude colors for nothing. If you want some glam or want to strengthen the color, apply it with a damp brush. The effect enhances the colors and they will stand out more.

Winner: if we judge on the basis of pigment the obvious winner are ‘rich colors’. One point for Coco.

Round 2:

Practical

Josselin: If you’re not an expert on smokey-eyes I advise you to not go down that road. It’s better to go natural than have the rainbow eyes of a drag queen. You do not want to go through life looking like that. Using colors takes practice. Nudes always work. You really can’t go wrong. If your brush slips it’s not a big drama.

Coco: Essential to using bright colors is knowing how to apply them because they’re so striking. You probably won’t see a hiccup when using nudes, with colors you very clearly do. Conclusion: A colored palette asks for some expertise.

Winner: An easy win for ‘subtle glow’. Point for Josselin. Coco and Josselin are tied, it can go both ways.

Round 3:

combination possibilities

Coco: “I am a big fan of using color on the eyes but it’s important to choose an outfit and adjust your make-up accordingly. I applied a bright purple eye shadow once and then decided to wear a red dress. Bad combo so I had to start all over again, not very practical.

Josselin: Nudes go with everything. It’s so relaxing. You can wear virgin white or dress up as a bird of paradise, nudes work with both.”

Winner: Nudes! Always right, no mishaps and goes with everything.

THE WINNER IS…

The overall winner is ‘subtle glow’ with her nude colors. 3 points. Well done!

Usually every palette holds at least four nude shades, from light to dark. This way you can stay natural but still make your eyes exciting by applying the right accents or using a damp brush.
