Moroccanoil

IIn New York I felt quite the birthday girl when May-Britt, Liesbeth and Jet woke me up singing and holding a cake with candles. I got even more partyed up when I was sitting in the chair at Moroccanoil for a touch-up. Altho’ really more of a make-over, my hair was such a mess, it needed a hefty boost. And while I was there with Frank Pérez, creative design team educator at Moroccanoil, naturally, I asked all kinds of questions about how to keep my hair beautiful all day long.

Washing
According to Frank, you really don’t have to wash your hair every day. That’s not all, he said preferably just two or three times a week. Your hair will keep its shape better. When you do wash it, do it very thoroughly. Taking your time to massage the product into your hair, leave it for a few minutes then rinse it out thoroughly afterwards. That last step often goes wrong. If you don’t rinse properly, residue stays behind on your hair, which makes it greasy more quickly. A hair mask once a week is also a good idea: it gives a great boost and keeps your hair especially healthy. You can always use a drop of Moroccanoil treatment as well. That combines well with all the other products this line has to offer. Apply it before washing your hair, it makes the hair softer and gives it a lovely shine. The secret ingredient
One of the newest products by Moroccanoil is the Root Boost, which really pumps up the volume. You’ve got to believe me, after Frank sprayed this on my hair and then blow-dried it, I felt like I had about ten times more hair. It got an enormous boost. The advantage is that it doesn’t feel so heavy and rough (as it does with dry shampoo), it feels fresh and light. I kept running my fingers through my hair to feel whether it was real. But it does work. And that’s the most important thing. Touch-up
As we were there during Fashion Week, I was very curious to know how we could do touch-ups in between shows without dragging a case full of products around. Very easy says Frank. Blow-dry your hair in the morning with Root Boost and apply some Voluminizing Mousse on the ends. This gives the best results and the best volume. The products hold well on clean hair and in the morning you’ve already taken the time for styling, during the day you only have to hang upside down and ruffle your hair with your hands. The products are then re-activated and your hair is back in shape.

Blow dry
Hang upside down. Massage the scalp with one hand and blow the hair dry with the dryer in your other hand. This is how to activate the product and get an enormous head of hair. And that’s just what we want, isn’t it? Trends
Seeing as Frank was working at the Fashion Week shows, he was also able to tell me about the trends. Where last season you saw the greasy wet-look and the  healthy clean look, now everything is combined. So the wet-look on top and a big wave at the ends. The trends are mixed. A bit of this and a bit of that. A great look is guaranteed.
