THE 5 BEST BUSINESS NAILS

Our day here often starts with a DIY manicure. The polish dries while we work. Actually polishing our nails is work. Just like online shopping – all work and very demanding.

With the aphorism ‘give me your nails and I’ll tell you who you are’ in mind, I want to take a minute to consider the topic of the business nail. Because polish wise you might be beside the mark.

Neat, neater, neatest

You are a businesswoman; you have a good job and are very punctual. We can tell this by looking at your nails. No chipped nails, no loose pieces of skin and no dirty rims. Everything is under control in your world, including your nails. Especially your nails.

Nothing crazy

Painting every nail in a different color is cute and those rhinestones are great for the weekend but Monday is ‘office’ day and you dress appropriately. I once had a boss who polished her nails in the colors of the flag of the country hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. I haven’t been able to take her seriously since.

CAREFUL with the red

Red is classic and emphasizes your feminine side but worn with red lipstick it could very well become a bit too bold and strong. Just make sure you keep it fresh and stylish.

no shells or gels

It’s a wonderful invention; nail polish that stays on for weeks. But businesswise you’re barking up the wrong tree. First of all your nails outgrow them fairly quickly and that doesn’t say ‘I’m in control’ in any way. Second: it’s proof you’ve had a manicure and this could dent your business image. If you have a manicure it has to look effortless. Third: it’s just a little too WAG-like. On your feet it looks fine just keep it off your hands.

pick your color

Pick a color that suits your profession. If you are a lawyer I’d go for nude. If you have a more creative occupation you can go for blue or the new lavender by Chanel. A nice basic topcoat always looks good. It looks clean and well groomed and you won’t be able to see if it’s chipped. Furthermore you can never go wrong with a beautiful nude polish.
