lipstick and champagne

Here at Amayzine our hearts always leap when an invitation from Chanel drops in our mailbox. This time we were asked to come see and try the new colors in the Rouge Coco lipstick collection. You can take it from us that that’s an absolutely fabulous way to spend a Wednesday afternoon. Chanel does everything the ‘Chanel way’ and that means being immersed in pampering and beauty.

With a glass of champagne in hand we were seated in make-up chairs and all was explained about the new spring colors by Rouge Coco. A total of 24 colors, each bearing the name of a significant figure in the life of Coco Chanel. Good friends, lovers and muses. For instance the pink color ‘Edith’, named after Chanel’s jewellery designer Edith de Beaumont, and the nude tone ‘Jeanne’, named after Coco’s mother.

Meanwhile, the Chanel professional make-up artist gave us a touch-up with the new summer shade most flattering for each of us. After that we floated out the door on a pink cloud (or perhaps the champagne had something to do with that) and started to understand why lipstick was mademoiselle Chanel favorite beauty accessory. “Wearing lipstick is like wearing high heels”. Although the first steps can be a bit intimidating, they are steps towards femininity.
