CRAZY ABOUT EYELINER!
Maybe it’s because in the past I always watched the very wrong, but oh so juicy MTV The Hills. Staring Lauren Conrad a.k.a. LC with that always perfect line above her eyes. I think it took me three years and certainly a thousand cotton wipes to perfect a still hand, but now I could be considered a near certified eyeliner applier. For me, a blank eyelid is a total no go. My eyeliner history, incidentally, has some trends. In the beginning I started with a thickie and over the years the line has become much thinner. For a few years I took the line well past the corner of my eye, most certainly by a few millimeters. These days I draw a thin line and I apply some eyeshadow just on the outside. But how is it achieved, that perfect line?
Practice on your hand
This is for the absolute beginner or if you’ve just purchased a new product. Just play for a bit with the liner on your hand. Then you know what type of thickness it has and from there you can work on getting your hand nice and still.
Stripe for stripe
As I just said, I pretty much perfected the straight line from the inside of the eyelid to the outer edge. If this is not working for you, try doing short strokes one after the other so that they eventually form a beautiful line. You can always touch this up with a cotton wipe.
Cat eye
If you are after the cat eye, just like Lauren for instance, do not draw it on directly. Firstly draw your line, then go back to fill it in and finalize it on the ends. The idea is to draw a triangle that you then color in. This way you can more easily make a proportionate line because it’s done in steps. Got it?
