deluxe pedicure @ home

One of the things that really puts me off is women who neglect their feet. Callus spots and toenails that are too long are so uncool. Yuck. I admit that getting a pedicure at a professional nail studio is very time consuming and quite expensive. So with this deluxe at home plan your feet will be presentable in seven easy steps.

filing

It all starts with dry feet. So get out your foot file and work those feet until they feel as soft as a baby’s bottom. This file by Tweezerman is easy to hold and works fast. A foot guru (yes, they exist) from Serbia once told me never to use a rasp. Your feet will only produce more callus so everything will take you twice as long.

soak

Fill a tub of lukewarm water and sit back to browse your Amayzine app while you soak your feet for at least 15 minutes (take care not to drop your phone is or you’ll spoil the app). Kneipp has aromatic rosemary fizz tablets that ensure lovely smelling feet.

Scrub

Scrub it baby! Your feet really soften up after a good scrub. Don’t miss any spots, like between your toes, no shortcuts allowed. Rituals has a scrub that leave your feet silky soft.

cuticles

Dry your feet thoroughly. Cuticles are important because your nails grow from them. They are the base. The same guru I mentioned earlier also told me never to cut away cuticles. Pamper them with a good cream like the one by Herôme , it keeps them soft and manageable.

cut

I personally prefer to cut my toenails before I start filing them into shape. I have been using this particular one by Pfeilring for years. If you plan to use it to cut your fingernails always clean it with some alcohol before doing so.

Lotion

Apply a nourishing foot lotion to your pedicured feet. If you do this twice a week before you go to sleep and wear sock in bed (my mother never allowed this but now it serves a purpose), your feet will stay softer longer. Rituals Lao Tze with it’s fresh mint odor keeps your feet fresh and has a calming effect.

polish

This is the fun part. Pulling out the nail polish and choosing a color. I have a big crush on the new Brights summer colors by O.P.I. Even if you’re not one for bright colored hands, your toes look great with a boost of color. Just for fun I do all my toes in a different color. Bit of a rebel I guess.
