I’m writing this in the lobby of my hotel, literally three cartwheels from Times Square. For many a hell, for me a party because as you may remember, I love Times Square. Let me tell you about my first two days in New York.

Saturday morning I was airborne by 10 and arrived at JFK around noon NY time. A city bus took me to my hotel and when passing Times Square I spotted not one, but three Olafs. Three!! I almost jumped off the bus but retained myself, only just. My mission for this week is getting my picture taken with all three of them at once. I’ll keep you posted. By the time I was checked in it was three o’clock. I had been up since 5 am and after a walk around the block I crashed on the bed and, like an old timer, I took a nap.

If it were up to me that nap could have lasted all night, thank goodness my alarm was friendly enough to wake me even though it was loud. I had plans to meet my friend Nish, the head of Suit Supply US, for drinks. His driver, Tony, arrived at my hotel at nine-thirty to pick me up, something I could get used to btw, and maneuvered the big black car through a very busy Times Square, that looks even more impressive at night. We were heading for Meatpacking, Soho House. My name was on the list, so I skipped up the stairs feeling that New York excitement and saw Nish at the rooftop bar waiting for me.

Soho House, a rather exclusive venue, has that instant OMG I-want-this-in-my-life feeling. Anyhow the G&T’s were on a roll and after Soho House we went onto location number 2: No. 8. Before this place was called No.8 it was Bungalow 8, you might remember this from an old episode of Sex and the City. Nish always holds a table on Saturday night for his Suit Supply men, who were there now. There I was standing between 20 or so good-looking well dressed men that took me back to a twenties mob movie.

When at 3 am my eyelids couldn’t stay up any longer I rolled into a cab to my hotel. My bed was an oasis of softness and I made myself up for a good night’s sleep. Which didn’t happen.

At 7.30 I was wide awake but totally shipwrecked, not a good combination. Sleep just wouldn’t come (damn you jet lag) so I got out my laptop answered some mails and made myself stay in bed until 9 am.

It’s Sunday now and today I did no more than follow my nose. First uptown and then the sub to downtown, through West Village, narrow streets, getting  a little lost, having lunch, doing some work – very relaxing.

At the end of the day it started raining cats and dogs so I went back to the hotel for some dry clothes and then seated myself in the lobby with a glass and my Macbook.

Later on I’m watching a documentary about Bill Cunningham because I have something very exciting planned, I’ll tell you later, don’t wanna jinx it. So a little patience please. For now, it’s another glass. Have a nice day you all!
