8 WAYS TO DRY YOUR HAIR

– without a blow dryer –

I don’t know how it works for you you, but after a quick survey here on the editorial floor it appears that everyone hates the morning hair blowdrying ritual. Of our team it is only our Editor in chief, May who enjoys the process and never fails to turn up at the office perfectly curled and styled. There are those who even turn up with wet hair. I do try to do my honest best, but mostly it’s already blown dried by the huge train journey I’ve just undertaken. But fine. Here they come. Eight tips that can indeed help you achieve perfect hair without having to stand for half an hour with the dryer in your hand.

Use conditioner

It’s not only a wonder elixir that helps your brush to painlessly get through your hair, it also helps to give your hair a coating which makes water slide right off rather than being absorbed. So just an extra little drop of conditioner.

Give it a squeeze

Your hair that is. Before you start to go for your towel, squeeze out your hair in the shower first till you have taken out as much water as possible. A towel makes hair extremely dry (not dry dry, but dull dry), so dab the towel over your hair without being too rough. You can also try to dry with paper towels, this helps to reduce the frizz.

Focus on the roots

If your hair is dry, make sure that you first make the roots dry. Once they are dry the ends will dry much faster.

Microfiber towel

Wrap your hair up in one of those special microfiber towels. You know, like a type of turban. Do this immediately after showering then go eat some breakfast, get dressed and put on your make up. After fifteen minutes your hair is already super dry.

Microfiber brush

The fibers of the brush take all the water from your hair. Give your hair a good brushing and before you know it, its dry. Well okay, almost dry.

Shake it

After you’ve patted your hair dry with the towel, give it a little shake. Put your head upside down and shake from left to right. Use your fingers and loosen up your strands of hair. The shaking action helps the air to circulate through your hair and it also immediately removes the knots and lumps that are held in by the water.

Sunlight

Ok, this is pretty logical. We know that sunlight helps your hair to dry. It is best to stand on a windy corner then your hair will dry even faster.

Dry shampoo

Yeah… duh. Of course, use dry shampoo. Then you don’t even need to wash your hair, you immediately get a volume boost and do away with any morning stress. At least, if you haven’t already sprayed too much, otherwise before you know a grey head of hair will be peaking around the corner. And then you can’t avoid the wash any further. So then you start again at step 1.
