F*CK THESE HASHTAGS
I’m going talk a little about the phenomenon called the hashtag. It was brought to life to categorize something. For example in case of an event it is handy if everyone uses the same hashtag so you can pull up all the desired images in one go on Instagram.
As time passed by the hashtag has become something with a funny note. Stuff like: #sorrynotsorry or #fromwhereistand and let’s not forget #imonlyhuman or #fillerup. Big Insta-celebs have their own hashtags think Madonna’s #rebelheart or #TheBlondeSaladNeverStops by Chiara Ferragni.
All fine, you all get a sticker. But I want to talk about all those worn down highways like #love #friends en #happy. Why do people do that? There is no one searching for these hashtags, meaning no extra visitor or follower and it will help absolutely no one looking for pictures of love and real friends.
They’re empty clichés. No help whatsoever. I can tell by looking at a picture of two happy toasting girls that it’s not about the next phase in the Israeli / Palestinian conflict. So these hashtags are useless. You might as well start using #women #breath and #life.
My point? Stop using empty cliché hashtags. #Lovemyjob, #friends, #fun, #lol. Really. You’re not helping anybody, least of all me.
