First aid for festivals
Now that we know what to wear to festivals, it’s time for step two; what festivals to go to and what to bring. The real music-lovers will be furious with me. They’ll start screaming that it’s not about the clothes but the MUSIC. Well tough, if they don’t like clothes they shouldn’t be reading Amayzine.com. Where was I, right, festival outfit covered, tickets in the bag (never wait too long, they sell out before you can say; I would like to order..). Being prepared is key. Here we go.
As you have a subscription to the weather channel, you’ll be checking this all day except when “Coachella” is printed on your ticket, this is weatherproof. If not, every festival is liable to change into a pig’s playground so always take wet weather into account. During heavy showers they hand out plastic rain ponchos, very uncomfortable, so bring your own and stick it into a locker until needed. Don’t forget to bring an extra change of clothes; after a day of dancing in the sun and spilled beer, you might catch cold on your way home. My personal lifesaver: a pair of dry warm socks.
Then when you arrive, together with ten thousand other people, everyone will be checking for coins to put in their locker. Chances are you’ll end up in line. Be smart, don’t get in line at the first ticket office (everyone does), there are many more on the terrain, walk a little further to the next one. Bring enough cash and your debet card, sometimes the cash lines are shorter than those where you can pay by card. Oh and bring some change for a locker so you can drop off your stuff then and there.
Life is much easier when you have these with you: a bottle of disinfectant gel (don’t get me started on the state of the toilets), tissues (toilet paper is scarce), powder compact (after a day of dancing your foundation is probably on your legs), power block (taking selfies all day eats batteries) and a mini bottle of perfume deodorant (no one want to go through life being smelly).
Finally, stock up on hangover food for the next day. Easy oven rolls, fresh juice, favorite spread, anything you think you might really want. There’s nothing better than being completely wasted and not having to leave the house the next day.
