Frozen explosion
7 things you need to,want to and should know
Frozen. You must have heard about it, even if you don’t have kids. My daughters, who have finally outgrown the Nijntje-era, now open the laptop every evening and revel in the adventures of Anna and Elsa. Frozen is all over the place and is even pervading the realms of fashion-land. In case you’ve been living under a rock or walking with your head in a cloud, I’m going to tell you why you need to know about Frozen.
- According to Facebook, it is the most talked about film.
- It has been called the first feminist Disney film ever, although I missed that aspect totally. The opening song is all about ‘maybe one day I’ll meet The One’ and if the one is not actually the one, Anna finds another man at her side. Anyway.
- The film is the most popular download on iTunes ever.
- The Elsa dolls have pushed Barbie from her throne for the first time in years (sorry, that’s a joke for the Frozen connoisseurs). Elsa was the most wanted doll for under the Christmas tree and not Barbie.
- Poppy Delevingne went to a party dressed as Elsa.
- Designer Alfred Angelo has designed wedding dresses inspired by the Elsa ice-dress (which is fabulous, her body and hair too actually).
- And then perhaps the best news of all. Rei Kawakubo, you know, her from Comme des Garçons, is bringing out a collection based on the drawings for the movie. For sale where? At doverstreetmarket.com. I’m going to order now. In quadruple.
PS. Do you want to see why Elsa is so fabulous and gorgeous? Watch this song on YouTube. I’m sharing the Dutch version because I find the singing much better than in the American version. Applause and a bow for Willemijn Verkaik and Noortje Herlaar.
