GIGI, what did you say?
Together with Kendall she absolutely holds the title of today’s It model. Adored by the fashion world and far beyond in other worlds, they are the Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford of our era. Gigi Hadid’s popularity in particular seems boundless, apart from being a captivating beauty, she also comes across as immensely likeable. Her down-to-earth attitude in combination with her glamorous background* is enchanting. Gigi doesn’t put a foot wrong. Well she didn’t until…
The blonde walked the runway at the Paris Fashion Week show of Sonia Rykiel and paraded there wearing a floor-length fur coat. Now this is not such a big surprise as it was already painfully clear at the Milan Fashion week that fur is back in fashion . No model can have any influence on that but the snapshot Gigi then posted of herself and the fur coat – for which an estimated 30 chinchillas met their end – was accompanied by the words, “It was difficult not to take this look home.”
And that, as you may have already guessed, did not go down well. The negative reactions to Gigi’s Instagram are still streaming in and #unfollowgigihadid has been created. Her 2,2 million followers are deeply revolted at her shameless promotion of fur. This seems to be the first faux pas the golden girl has made since being catapulted into stardom. It most probably will not be the last. A superstar is after all only human.
*Gigi Hadid is the daughter of the immensely rich property developer Mohammed Hadid and the Dutch Beverly Hills Housewife, Yolanda Foster. Multiple Grammy Award winner David Foster (the stepfather of Brody Jenner) is also her stepfather and she grew up in a dream house in Malibu.
