Give me tea
Facts and Fables
We drink at least ten litres of tea a day here at the office. And kilos of fresh ginger and mint. Hundreds of rooibos, green, Moroccan and star mix tea bags are flung around including the odd box of Zonnatura ‘for easy bowl movement’ thrown in for good measure. Yep, indeed, exactly what you’re thinking. All these different types and tastes! What do they all do? I dove into the world of tea.
What is L-Theanine?
It’s like caffeine in coffee. It’s a stimulant. I must admit, I never feel that from coffee so definitely not from tea. It differs from person to person.
is green tea slimming?
The Internet is full of articles about losing weight by drinking green tea. I don’t believe this at all. Look, green tea is good for you, but if you eat a bag of jellies alongside it everyday, you will not lose weight. You need to exercise and adjust your nutrition and then you’ll see a difference. Green tea can certainly help, but then you do need to put the coca cola and fruit juice to the side ok?
Drink tea daily for a healthy bowel movement
The shelves are full of them. Especially in health stores. Tea for smooth moves. And I mean: helping to get your bowel movement going. I’m sure it is not intended for daily use. It does work, but your body should be able to do this on it’s own without a jug of tea everyday. Your intestines can become lazy and may need a bit of help. But tea can also cause a blockage. A cup every now and then can’t hurt, and can offer relief, but don’t do it too often because believe me: it’s not good for you and you won’t get thin.
Relaxing with rooibos
A cup of Rooibos tea is recommended for relaxation. Perfect before bedtime. It contains many antioxidants, which neutralise free radicals. It’s good for the body, because free radicals can damage you. They are electrically charged particles that are caused by stress or age, but also from foods, medicines or alcohol.
White tea
This tea is milder than black or green tea. It is made from the youngest leaves of the tea plant, picked as a bud. Perhaps not the most exciting news, but good to know that it makes zero difference to the health factor. Only taste-wise and there is no L-Theanine in it.
