Saturday night hair

Hair stylist Rachel Geerman just came back from Milan and Paris where she did the hair for the most important shows like the ones from Viktor&Rolf, Gucci, Valentino, and Pucci. She managed to catch her breath again and Rachel and her colleagues taught us how to create a runway look ourselves. Adriana chose to do my hair in a demure style like you often see at shows from Dolce&Gabbana and Valentino.

Step 1
Brush your hair really well and create a sharp part in the middle. Because my hair isn’t long enough for the look, Adriana added a string of ‘borrow hair’. I think it’s quite worth the investment. I really like Balmain’s hair pieces because they’ve got really user friendly clips, and they’re quite affordable.

Step 2
Back comb the top of your hair in different sections. The Mason Pearson brush works best. Use medium strength hairspray to maintain the back combed hair.

Step 3
Brush the back combed hair slightly and tie it together with a tight, low ponytail.

Step 4
Divide the ponytail in two and braid both pieces. When you braid it it’s important to make the strings the exact same thickness and have been brushed well. It really helps. Use a very small elastic band in the colour of your hair.

Step 5
Tie the braids on top of your head with a U pin (a wider slider pin) and fasten the braid on top of your hair. Try to drape the braids over each other in order to conceal the elastic bands.

Step 6
Make sure it all looks good and use slider pins to control stubborn hair.

Step 7
Finish with lots of hairspray to make sure it’s fixed well.

Kind of easy when you think about it. Still not convinced of your abilities? Make an appointment at The Building in Amsterdam and ask Adriana, Estella or Rachel whether they can do it.

Where’s the party? There’s the party!
