Hollywood under the spell of crystals

Hollywood loves crystals. Not only because of their lovely shine and glitter – though a big plus – but mainly due to the metaphysical powers they are supposed to have. And this is not just a hot Hollywood hype. For thousands of years people have believed that gemstones possess healing powers that can change moods and bring protection, and in California this superstition is being embraced with both arms.

“We’re both very into crystals since living in L.A.”, David Beckham once remarked. “I keep a lot of black toumaline and rose quartz in the bathroom”,  Victoria added. “We really love the energy. They’re quite spiritual here in Los Angeles, everyone’s very positive.”

Katy Perry became involved with the healing power of gemstones after a tip from Madonna. After the singer broke up with John Mayer, Madge introduced her to a healer working with crystals and since then she can’t do without them. “I sleep with rose quartz in my right hand. This should help find love and heal a broken heart.”  Nicole Richie, Britney Spears and Kate Hudson are also big fans of rose quartz. Kate: “My mother once gave me one and I always keep it with me”.

Angelina Jolie has been collecting gemstones for years and spends thousands of dollars on them. “She believes in the sacred powers and age-old energy they hold and she likes to feel that around her”, according to an insider. And so the list of famous followers goes on. Therefore well worth a short description of the most popular stones. Rubbish you say? OK, maybe, but surely surrounding yourself with beautiful shiny things won’t do any harm?
