Homemade tea
It’s no big secret that our editorial team consumes tea by the bucket. (much to my annoyance) they keep the boiler kettle on the table to keep the glasses topped up. The kitchen drawers are filled to the rim with tea bags as everyone apparently has a different favourite.
Morrocan Mint is May’s cup of tea, Elisabeth always goes for Jasmine Green, Josselin likes Earl Grey and I go for anything with green in it. We can even make “crappy’ tea, this is what we call teas that have “improves bowel stimulation” written on the package. Well you know what I’m getting at.
It’s very easy to make your own fresh herb tea with ingredients you can buy at the supermarket. Here are a few ideas.
Very simple. Fill your glass with a bundle of mint. Done. Keep your mint in the fridge rolled up in some damp paper towels.
To put a little twist on your mint tea, add a few sage leaves. Sage has a calming effect so it’s great for in the evening.
A few pieces of ginger (I prefer peeled), a sprig of mint and a slice of tangerine or orange. Just one slice is sufficient, the citrus flavour comes through really quickly, it adds a zesty fresh taste.
Apple mint, California poppy and Lemon balm. You may have never heard of these herbs, but ask your local grocer, he’ll know. It’s the perfect recipe for a good night’s sleep.
Stock up on bunches of: Lemon Thyme, Echinacea and peppermint. Put them all in a glass together and give your body a mini detox treatment. The peppermint makes it nice and refreshing.
Cheers, excuse-me; Santé
