Conversation Piece Fun & Famous

how to avoid tv spoilers

My favorite leisurely activity is to binge watch TV series, so generally I am always very up to date with all of the biggest shows that get aired. But since there are only 24 hours in a day, the chance of me missing out on some hyped up show is unfortunately still plausible. And it sucks. Especially when everyone around you is talking about that one goddamn show and you only just started and you’ve turned into an insomniac trying to catch up and stay up to date.

The worst part about trying to catch up on a show that is already in it’s fourth season or so is that everyone somehow thinks you’ve seen everything. Or even worse, when you unintentionally find the spoilers online. Take Gossip Girl for example. I knew who Gossip Girl was long before I was anywhere close to the finale since some sites thought it would be totally okay to spoil the surprise for anyone who wasn’t up to date. But anyway, long story short, when you start watching a new show, how do you make sure the rest of the population doesn’t spoil your merriment?

Inform everyone

You’ll regret this if you don’t. Inform your friends, your family, everyone at work. They all might start whispering when they’re around you but hey, it still helps. And tip 1: if you have a hunch that a conversation is heading the wrong direction and is going involve a few spoilers, get your hands dirty. Violence is permitted. All for the sake of your happiness.

Avoid media sources

The radio, TV, Twitter. You aren’t safe anywhere anymore. I mean, I think your best option is to hide out in some sort of bomb shelter, but if that’s a bit too much of a hassle for you then limit your social contacts and stay far far away from your TV or radio. And never ever go on Facebook or Twitter after a new episode has been released cause then all hell will break loose.

Catch up real quick

Call in sick, cancel all of your appointments and lock yourself up in your living room to catch up as quickly as you can. That way no one can ever spoil the show for you and you’ll be back to your usual cheerful self. Easy as pie.
