How to book the cheapest tickets

As you know traveling is not something we are bothered by at Amayzine.com. Besides Net-A-Porter, cheaptickets.com is one our most commonly used bookmarks. And because doing is learning, I’ll let you in on some of the things we have taken on board for finding cheap tickets. If only to have some cash leftover for a stiff cocktail or a relaxing beach massage when you get there.

1. Don’t book tickets in the weekend

This is what everyone does. Therefore, due to the demand/supply rule, the price goes up. Don’t do it. Pick a boring Tuesday afternoon after a meeting to enjoy your daydreaming moment.

2. Don’t depart in the weekend

See above. Flying from a Saturday to Saturday is more expensive than flying from Wednesday to Wednesday.

3. Avoid businessman hours

Early Monday mornings and Friday evenings the planes are full of business people, especially the short European flights. You want to stay away from these because oh la la they are very expensive.

4. Watch out for the Thalys

Check it out; if you look up a price and departure date on the Thalys website, take a moment to think about it, and return to those same dates and time, the price will have gone up. Even if it’s only taken you less than three minutes to come to a decision. How is that? The Thalys remembers your IP-address and thinks: Hey, if she comes back she must really want to go to Paris so I’ll add a little to the price. So don’t close the site after checking, leave it open while you decide whether you want to go. Otherwise book using a different IP-address to get the cheapest ticket. That’ll show’em.
