How to drink more water

Water is wonderful. It’s good for your skin, your digestive system and helps flush out your bodily toxins. I’ve already written about all the health benefits of drinking water. So, in other words; drink more water people! If you can manage to down at least 2 liters of water per day, you are doing really well. The color of your pee is also a very good indicator of your water intake: the darker the color, the more you need to drink. So if drinking plenty of water is not already in your system, here are a few tips and tricks to make this easier for you.

  • Spice up your water drinking habits by adding a slice of lemon, cucumber or orange in your glass. It makes your beverage look pretty and it adds a festive little touch.

  • Tea is also water, so put the kettle on love. Pop a little sprig of mint into a glass or make a whole pot of herbal tea.

  • Get a water drinking buddy. Perhaps a colleague also wants to drink more water so perhaps the two of you can work together to keep reminding each other to stay hydrated.

  • Drink from large glasses.

  • Put a glass of water next to your bed while you sleep. When the alarm goes off in the morning, down the entire glass. Before getting out of bed, you’ve already had your first half liter. Try to make a consistent habit out of this.

  • Make sure you always have a bottle in your bag. A full bottle of water that is.

  • If you find it really difficult to remind yourself, you can set a timer. Water Time!

  • There even is an app that lets you track the amount of water you drink. Turn it into a game.
