if you’re going sailing

If you’ve been keeping an eye on our website, you’ll know that May and I spent two days in Mallorca last week. We were invited by Gaastra, who happily invited us on their boat for two days to enjoy the sunshine and ocean waves. But being onboard a boat for two days has definitely taught us a couple of wise lessons that we gladly want to share with you. Because that’s how we are.

Wear shoes with white soles

Since black soles leave trails and marks on boats and I can tell you, this does not thrill an average boat owner. If you’re in a simple little sloop then don’t worry about it, but if you’re on a chicer version, drop the black and go for white.

Displayable feet

Incase you need to take off your shoes, it’s better to have a pair of well pedicured feet appear with perfectly polished toes.

Bring a straw

Because attempting to take a sip of your rosé when you’re traveling at 90 kilometers an hour is quite the challenge. I’ll let you know beforehand that you will not succeed and before you know it your outfit will be covered in wine stains. Add a straw so you can drink with ease the entire day, because that’s what we want.

Don’t wear a dress

Because it swings and flutters and before you know it you’re entire vajayjay will be on display.

A bathing suit rather than a bikini

For more than one reason. First of all you will be slightly more dressed up after slipping on a pair of shorts. Secondly, moving around in a bikini tends to be tedious for most women (myself included). Sucking in your stomach is aggravating (and usually it isn’t even necessary for most women, again myself included, yet we do it anyway) so a bathing suit leaves you in a better comfort zone.

Bring a waterproof bag

Because when you’re on a boat that’s traveling around a quick speed, chances are you’ll be drenched with a bit of water. You might dry up quickly, but that leather beauty you tagged along can’t handle the water as well as you can…

Lots of sunscreen

Because otherwise you’re guaranteed to get slightly sunburnt. I might have spent about an hour or 5 on that boat but my back did turn lightly red and that’s no fun for anyone.

Something to drape over your shoulders

A scarf, a towel, or a blouse, because my the slightest sense of a sunburn it’s the quickest and most efficient solution.

Bring a cap

And not a hat because that will blow off.
