THE LAZY ILLUSTRATOR AND LOTD-WORTHY TYPE COME TOGETHER

You can make me deliriously happy with gorgeous illustrations. Now I do understand that not everyone is blessed with my talent (joke!), but I have found a brilliant app for the totally uncreative amongst us, or the lazy designer.
Chic Sketch. It’s an app with which cool looks can be made into an illustration in a flash. The makers even describe it as the most ‘instagrammable and shareable app’ in New York, so that’s very promising. Created by a fashion designer and an illustrator, who thought it would be great to be able to make an original illustration of any outfit. So not any old app that more or less follows the lines of the photo and makes a standard thing out of it: no, an original sketch.
Like I said, I’m mad about illustrations so I just had to try it out and I used a picture of Liesbeth. It’s actually quite easy. You upload a photo and an illustrator starts to work on it. Don’t expect to get it back in minutes: it takes a good day’s wait. And there’s something to be said for that, for it turns out you really do get an original illustration that someone has sweated over. You pay $10 per illustration, but hey, it’s original and yours. You must be dead curious to see the result. Well, we were too. This is how it turned out. Liesbeth sketched. Very instagrammable, wouldn’t you say?
