Conversation Piece Fun & Famous

The fun thing about the digital world is that your pool of friends is much larger. Through so and so, someone informed me about Tara Martin and also quickly mentioned that she could easily pass as my little sister. Now I’ve had my fair share of comparisons thrown my way, but the comparison with Tara made me exceptionally happy.

We got in touch, appeared to have the same extreme amount of love for one-piece suits, wearing our coats on our shoulders, owners of the same Dior earring and are preferably found either in Italy, New York or LA. Tara and I, we proved to make a great match.

Such a great match that we figured it would be a brilliant idea to have her hop onto Amayzine’s bandwagon as one of the new editors. Read and meet. Wanna bet you’ll like her just as much as I do?

How would you describe your personal style?

“My personal style definitely has the New York City edge and I live in black, white and gold. However, even with that NYC sleekness there is still a laid back LA flair. I live for the perfect boyfriend jean and slouchy cropped tee.”

What’s your greatest love when it comes to fashion?

“My greatest love is definitely accessories- shoes, handbags, cuffs and rings. And then narrowing it down even further is definitely leather goods: a leather jacket and a new clutch and I am set.”

On Instagram you describe yourself as a ‘business maker’. Can you tell us a little bit about the businesses you’re making?

“I have started, still own and operate 4 fashion brands right here in Los Angeles. So yes, definitely a ‘business maker’. 1st is Luxury Designer Resale or LDR for short. We resell contemporary and designer clothing, shoes and bags for A list clientele in Los Angeles. 2nd brand I started is My Other Bag  a line of eco-friendly, stylish and cheeky tote bags all made in LA. 3rd is Bag Junkies a line of pop art, graphic tees made in LA using super soft, custom fabrics. 4th and final Is DTLA Custom a luxury leather art house. We customize your leather goods with any art you want. From initials and stripes all the way to full custom art pieces! We do leather jackets, designer handbags, suitcases, wallets, etc. Turning your leather items into one of a kind, wearable art.”

What’s your secret beauty weapon?

Witch-hazel pads to refresh your skin instantly and when going I never leave home without black eyeliner and a good contouring bronzer.

Who is your girl crush?

That is such a tough one but it’s a tie between two for me, Victoria Beckham and Olivia Palermo. I absolutely love their style.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Homemade popcorn with milk duds. The sweet with the salty is heaven.

What time does your alarm clock go off and where?

My alarm goes off at 5:30 am in my loft located in downtown Los Angeles’ Fashion & Arts District.

What does the perfect LA weekend look like?

The perfect LA weekend is Saturday: yoga in the morning, brunch, gallery and boutique strolling. Sunday is coffee, hike through Topanga canyon, farmers market and late lunch in Malibu.

What’s the best thing about LA and what’s the worst?

One of the best things about LA is easy access to so many amazing places. You have the mountains, beach, desert, cities, wine country, Mexico all within hours. Then there is the easy breezy weather which is reflected in the laid back Angeleno culture makes for day to day life relaxed, easy and light hearted. Also the city is bustling with fashion, culture, art, restaurant, and entertainment talent. It is really a hub for tons of creative energy which makes it so fun and inspiring to be in the middle of it.

The worst thing is the traffic for sure! LA is a very unique city in that it is extremely spread out so it can take an extremely long and frustrating amount of time to get not very far in Los Angeles.
