After Milan comes Paris Fashion Week, which means my favorite city is swarming with the most gorgeous fashion girls. Liesbeth will be there tho cover the shows and I’ll be advising her (and you) on the best places to eat for bumping into or spying on the hippest fashion folk.
hip and happening peeps everywhere
Here you’ll feel right at home amongst the pimped up flea market furniture. Perhaps it sounds a bit grotty, but it’s actually very cool. Brunch here is best, because there’s a long table loaded with various pastries and desserts.
sit next to a fashion designer
You must know Costes or at least heard of it. Reserving a place is a must, then preferably in the roofed courtyard. Certainly don’t get hidden away, for here especially you’ll want to see everyone who walks in. Hours of fun, believe me. Seriously important people lunch here.
It’s the same for Hotel Mandarin Oriental (a little further along the street): I was once there peering inside as Giorgio Armani walked out.
where the models go
One of my favourites in the whole city. Such a wonderfully cosy restaurant. Wooden floor, low ceiling, welcoming bar, linen on the tables and hip servers (wearing their own clothes).
Where you’ll meet Kim Kardashian
Liesbeth and I were sitting here last summer on the front row when Kimmy K. walked in. Honestly, the whole café grabbed their phones. Everyone just had to have a photo of her. It’s really important to make a reservation in good time, preferably on the pavement café, ‘cos that’s the best place and that’s where most happens (as far as interesting folk go). Same goes for the bar at the Ritz. NB: you are refused entry if you’re wearing sneakers: it really is a very chic affair.
sit with the French fashion crowd
Try to dress up a bit here too, otherwise you’ll be feeling very much under par. The beautiful people count is giga high here, the restaurant looks out over the Louvre and the menu is scrumptious. Read here what I wrote about this place before.
a vegetarian menu
Eating vegetarian and gluten-free is very hip and here the menu shows plenty of it (and delicious too!), so a good chance of seeing a model or enormously chic Parisiennes. Tugalik has two restaurants, both lovely and in a friendly neighbourhood.
where you can linger on for a drink and dance
This restaurant has a bit of a night clubbish feeling. Red velvet sofas, low leather armchairs and lots of mirrors and dim lighting. Make a late table reservation so you can move to the bar afterwards. A lot of soul and R&B was played last time I was there. That I love.
sit with french writers and their bit too young and pretty girlfriends
This restaurant is under the Palais de Tokyo, a museum for modern art. Try to get a table on the pavement with its view over the Seine and Eiffel Tower. The pavlova is recommended by French ELLE. A dessert of meringue and red fruits.
