How to keep your color longer
As you know I don’t tend to shy away from a splash of color here and there. What I am not a fan of though is when the color disappears much earlier than it should. Fortunately, I have a few tricks up my sleeve.
Concealer is your best friend
And not just for the terrible bags under eyes. Give a good base of concealer on all the areas where you want to play with color. Above your eyes and on your lips for example. This keeps your eye shadow and lipstick in place for the whole day. So concealer; yes!
Foundation too
Foundation not only ensures that bumps and blemishes are glossed over, but it also gives your bronzer something to hold onto and stays much longer. It is really important that you have the right color for your skin tone, so don’t forget to test it on your hand first.
Nude eyeshadow
When going for a bright color on your eyes, make sure that you first give the eye a nude base. M.A.C’s Cream Shadow is an all in one eyeshadow and primer. This is such a great product, it helps keep the color longer and prevents the eyeshadow from accumulating in the creases.
Use brushes
Yet another reason not to use your hands. The fat on your fingers works against your make up and keeps it from keeping on. So use a brush… for everything. It actually feels quite luxurious to do so. So just do it.
Fix it
Think of it as hair spray for your face. A fixing spray really helps in maintaining your colorful (and au naturel) makeup the whole day long. Clarins has a really lovely fixer that also smells delightfully like rosewater. Yum.
