LIP LINER Love
Lip liner is a real favorite. A friend and I were going to a party recently and we really wanted to look adequately decent. She has no interest in makeup whatsoever so she gave me carte blanche to paint her canvas. I loved it. The result was sublime, if I may say so myself. My friend was baffled by the size of her lips, which according to her were now huge. It’s all because of the right lip liner, darling. Also great if you have unequal lips, you can balance them out easily. Another plus for using a lip liner is that it keeps your lipstick in place. Make sure you buy it in the same color as your lipstick so it won’t stand out. The nineties are way behind us.
How to apply?
1. Prep those lips
It’s important that before you apply a lip liner you use a balm or special primer to prevent dehydration. I use Prep + Prime by M.A.C. because it gives me a nice soft base without being oily.
2. Draw: start in the middle
You apply lip liner in four lines. You start at your cupid’s bow in the center of your lips. Draw a line to the left (or right, whatever) then draw a line on the other side of your upper lip. On the bottom lip you start the other way round. You draw a line from the outside to the center. Do the same for the other side. Be careful that you don’t push too hard, as it will make a thicker less subtle line. Not nice, got that?
3. Color
It’s the lipstick’s turn. I color in the lipstick from the outside in. Take care to color within the lines. As a finishing touch you can add an extra line with your lip liner pencil for a sharp effect. Bite into a tissue with your lips to remove excess lip stuff.
My favorite lip liners:
