Tara Martin is a business woman, fabulous fashionista and born and raised Angeleno. Lucky for us (and you) she is also the latest addition to our Amayzine team of international editors. Every week she will give us an inside look on her life on the fault line.

This week kicked off with the release of a fashion film made by Swoon NYC for La Vie En Rosie featuring myself, DTLA Custom and My Other Bag. We shot at the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood and it was the perfect sunny, LA day to shoot a lifestyle film about fashion, art and entrepreneurship. Catch the whole feature here.

But what’s really been keeping me the most busy the last few weeks is moving into our new art studio in downtown LA. We found a great studio/showroom space right where the fashion, industrial and arts district all intersect, so it’s the perfect location to better keep up with all the various aspects of DTLA Custom, My Other Bag and Bag Junkies. This area has boomed so much in the last few years and has really under gone an amazing revival. You can feel the creative energy everywhere.

I have been so inspired already walking to grab a coffee or a quick bite because around every corner there is a huge mural with a cool piece of street art, a gallery, a pop up shop, antique store, or an amazing restaurant in a hidden alley way. I am looking forward to trying all these new hot DTLA spots and reporting back. First up was the Daily Dose for a lunch meeting, followed by a coffee of course. Highly recommend.

Friday casual heading into the weekend and in summer I like to stay by the beach in one of the best beach towns in So Cal: Manhattan Beach. There are tons of great restaurants and shopping of course. Headed to the Strand House in Manhattan Beach for lunch in Ulla Johnson Harem pants, Valentino flats, a basic black beautiful people tank and one of our new My Other Bag styles, the kate denim with a MOB monster.

It’s also especially fun to stay local on the weekends as I just rescued a brand new puppy named Cheeseburger, Cheesy for short. He is the cutest! 8 weeks old and a min pin/Chihuahua mix so he is tiny and he loves My Other Bag, of course.

Until next week!

Xo,

Tara Martin
