Away with the wine

And there I was. Out with the wine, in with the detox.

On Friday evening a luxury crate was delivered containing all the detox gear. It looked very stylish with lovely shaped bottles and pots of soups, but also very ordered. And ordered = too little. Was this for one person? No, for two. Okidoki.

While dearest stood frying eggs for the kids, I poured us a glass of juice. In wine glasses, to keep things friendly. Delicious juice by the way. “Mama want a bite?.” Wow, that fork came dangerously close to my mouth and there was very little stopping me from popping it in. I realised then and there how often I eat leftovers without noticing. A grape here, biscuit there, a few sips of orange juice that would be a sin to throw away.

I’m writing this on day three while my colleagues are having lunch, which doesn’t really bother me. I haven’t felt hungry during the last few days. Well, maybe a little on Saturday. But that was because we were not at home and I had forgotten to take my juice with me. I replaced it with an apple. Which is permitted by the detox-delight people. I went to the SuperTrash show that evening and felt on top of the world. So much energy, and zero alcohol smell like on my colleagues’. Not a problem of course, and usually I would have had at least three Chardonnay’s by now. I felt strong and healthy. I decided to skip the after party at the very hip  5&33. The snacks are so heavenly there and that would have been one step to far.

On my way home I fantasised about everything I’d be eating soon and then dove into bed with a cup of ginger tea. And a thick jumper because detoxing makes you chilly.

Everyone at the office asked me how I was finding it. Difficult because of the boredom. The weekend is usually planned around culinary activities and now it was only juice or soup. The soup is also very tasty by the way. But still. I would rather have had a sandwich and a glass of something or other. I haven’t felt hungry at all. Although we have both been tired. My love was fast asleep already during his favourite sport’s show. This almost never happens. Unless he is drunk.

Yesterday we were fantasising in the category: “Let’s eat tomorrow’s soup today and then start eating normally tomorrow again.” But it wasn’t necessary. We woke feeling super healthy, a kilo lighter and decided to continue for two more days.

I’ll keep you updated…
