May’s Open-Door Paradise
“Is that it?” is the standard comment when I show people my wardrobe. My love had designed a gorgeous built in wardrobe for me, but the size, the size was sometimes a little disappointing.
How come I have such a modest sized wardrobe? Well, I’m extremely good at shifting and sorting so everything that is in my cupboard is worn by me. On top of that, I have a separate attic for clothing, which neatly holds all by winter or summer clothing.
Butttt, dear readers, the time of disappointment is over. The boasting season is open. May I introduce…drum roll. My open-door paradise.
This is how it started. One of my Chanel-girlfriends whispered in my ear that she saw a cupboard ‘somewhere’ (t’was at Ikea), and it was beautiful. I scrolled through her photos and knew: “I want, need and will have it.”
I had a spare room in my house, which did not really have an identity. A room, the nicest one in the house actually, that slowly got filled with junk. You know what I mean. I moved the cupboards around, pushed the sleeper couch over to another wall, visited Ikea and there you have it.
Because Ikea also has a delivery- and installation service. It costs just a little more for a friendly man to come by, lift all the boxes into the room, build everything and then clean up. I came home from work to a paradise.
And I’m not being paid for this article. Although I wouldn’t mind. Because it’s a sin to hide all my carefully collected items behind closed doors, I decided to keep it open. I spent yesterday evening with a glass of wine on the sleeper couch, looking at all my things and thinking about the lovely outfits I could put together.
Yes Winonah and Sylvie, you’ve got competition. Watch out.
