What men can’t wear in this heat

Mostly you men just want to sit back in a lounge chair wearing nothing but shorts, with a beer in your left hand and your right hand, well, where you always put it. But money has to keep rolling in so it’s business as usual, off to the office. But how? That’s the question, how?

These items are forbidden in an office environment; even if it’s forty degrees those shorts are to be worn on the boat, not here. We look at your hairy legs and especially at your shoes that unless you’re the man-likes-man type it all goes horribly wrong.

There’s this guy I adore (hi Dirk) who comes to the studio on Birkenstocks. Now Dirk can do no wrong in my eyes but I have to draw the line at those Birkenstocks, my modish eyes just don’t approve. Even though I understand how difficult it is in this heat. Go for a Tod’s-shoe that you can wear without socks, it has the same airy feel as the Birks. And if you really, really, want to go barefoot (and you have a creative profession) I’d go for a hip slipper. But otherwise, I’m sorry to say it has to be Nikes or Tod’s. #noonesaiditwouldbefun

Last year Anouk Smulders made surprise visits to the models and their families for Holland’s Next Top Model and almost every family had a father wearing a short-sleeved shirt. “Impossible!” she called out every time she saw one. At the end of the day the film crew dropped her off at home where her father, who had taken care of the children all day, opened the front door wearing a shirt-sleeved shirt.

Men. This. Is. Just. Not. Done. And it’s only a matter of time that a jail sentence will be filed against all those of your wearing a ‘checked’ short-sleeved shirt.

Jeans or white slacks that just reach the ankles and a light shirt. Those long sleeves really help control the heat. And a linen jacket, they wear them in the tropics so you know it works, looks hot and keeps you cool. A T-shirt. Depending on your profession, but if you’re a little creative you’ll get away with it. Even if it’s a low V-neck.

Good luck men and just remember: fall will come.
