As fitting as it is for a fashion director, Simone is adorned in bags. I even witnessed her being unable to locate a bag for an entire year. Luckily it wasn’t a huge problem, she had plenty of others. During a thorough closet cleanse she finally found it again. Neatly folded in the bottom of her closet. Since a woman can never have too many bags, Simone’s love for her Jérôme Dreyfuss is steady as a rock.

how many bags do you own?

Hmm okay I need to think about this one. I have quite a few but I always seem to use the same one. I think I have about 30 bags, mainly shoulder bags but a few clutches too. It’s a mix of unbranded and designer bags, mostly in the colors black and brown. Nothing too flashy, although I do have a yellow and a red shopper…

what’s the story behind this bag?

This bag is from Jérôme Dreyfuss. It was my goodbye gift when I left Marie Claire magazine. I did pick it out myself though. It looks almost identical to a bag I already had but I secretly like having a designer variety of it too. The great thing about this model is that it’s compact but still big enough to fit all my essentials. And check out the miniature lamp, how useful is that? They come with any Jérôme Dreyfuss bag.

how do you take care of you bags?

I’m not overly careful with them because I do see them as an everyday utensil. Plus, I think the ‘used’ look is what gives bags their charm. I use them when it’s raining out, always forget to use protective spray and am okay with leaving it on the floor.

what about its content?

I stuff everything into it. In this case I even had two different nail polishes in my bag. Kind of funny since I had completely forgotten about them. I always carry around tie-wraps too so anytime I’m at the airport I can securely close my suitcases. Dandy little things…

what do you always carry with you?

Things you’ll always find in my bag are my cell phone, wallet, keys and a pencil. I alway write with pencils. A nail file, a cream blush and a scent (currently Prada’s Les Infusions which always puts a smile on my face) are some other things you can always find in my bag. Another thing I always carry around are my sunglasses. Rain or shine.  I can’t even drive a car or ride a bike without one. And sunglasses are the perfect accessory to complete any outfit, especially my Céline shades. Always a winner right?

what do you think are the best characteristics of a bag?

I think the best characteristic of a bag are its long straps so you can carry your bag as a cross body. But the pockets are important too cause it’ll help you keep everything organized and a zipper to shut it. Another thing I find important is the timelessness of a bag. I would personally never opt for an it-bag because before you know it you’re walking around with something which is very ‘last season.’

anything still on your wish list?

Valentino’s shopper; feminine but with an edge due to the studs. When you’re a freelancer a shopper is ideal. Plus a good excuse for a new bag right? Perfect if you’re always carrying around a laptop.
