– The KLM Houses –

I used to think those little blue KLM houses were only accessible for the lucky few. True, well partially, besides flying business class you have to be on an  international flight. I have of course left the continent by plane (hurrah!), last year it was Australia, this year New York and the end of this year Kaapstad, as this sucked the life out of my credit card upgrading to business class was not an option, I had to stick to economy. I secretly kept hoping for a little blue house, it radiates luxury – you have to make quite a few flights to build up a collection large enough to form a street – and it breathes class – flying business puts your standards right up there.

Last February I was allowed to go to New York. You know this because I bombarded my Instagram with pics and mentioned it every time I thought it appropriate (which was a lot). The fun part of that trip was sitting beside May, she always attracts attention. And if you’re also lucky enough to have a nice stewardess it’s not a hard egg to boil. No, we didn’t get to business class but we did get a house! It was handed over to us secretly in a little white vomit bag. My travel companions; Lies, May and Sacha slept the whole way and were disappointed not to find a house of their own. I on the other hand, was in total bliss when arriving home, no jetlag only a feeling of richness. The clue is to stay awake, no matter how long the flight takes and make friends with the stewardess or the steward. Or both to double the fun.
