2 X SUMMER ICED TEA RECIPES
(vodka may be added later)
We all get thirsty when it’s hot. And I totally understand that you are dying to open a bottle of rosé at 1 in the afternoon but bear with me for a sec. This morning when I put on my striped dress, applied suntan lotion to my legs and slid my sunnies onto my nose I wanted nothing more than to go to the park. A stack of magazines, a picnic basket filled with goodies and homemade iced tea. I add a bottle of vodka to open after 4 o’clock. Yes people this fit slash healthy slash green chick enjoys a glass every once in a while.
I have two favorite homemade iced tea recipes that I’d like to share with you. It tastes even better if you make it the day before and store it in the fridge. Take a big jerry can (they have great ones for sale) and put it in your basket to take to the park, the boat, the beach or wherever.
Homemade green iced tea (very simple and very delicious)
This is what you need to make it:
1 liter boiling water
3 green tea teabags
1 lemon in parts
Handful of mint
Agave syrup (optional)
Ice cubes
Leave the teabags in the boiling water for at least half an hour. Add the lemon and mint and let it cool. When it’s cold put it in the fridge overnight. Take jug out of the fridge and add a drop of agave syrup. Pour into a glass with some ice cubes.
Red iced tea (from one of my favorite sites: yellowlemontreeblog)
This is what you need to make it:
1 grapefruit
200 grams of strawberries (can be frozen)
250 ml cranberry juice
750 ml cold earl grey tea
Maybe some sprigs of mint as a garnish
Ice cubes
First make the Earl grey tea with 3 teabags and let it cool.
Squeeze the grapefruit and add the juice, along with the strawberries and cranberry juice to the cooled tea in the blender. Blend until smooth and sift it into a nice jug. Serve with ice cubes and a few sprigs of mint. Yummy…
