I HAVE A VERIFIED BADGE
so I exist
The champagne bottles were popped last week when the winner of the Dutch version of Top Model was crowned with a verified Instagram account. Which nowadays is the equivalent to receiving royal recognition.
The criteria for both still rather unclear. There are plenty of remarkable people out there with only a scarce amount of followers whose accounts haven’t been verified, and there are people who have been, but don’t really have anything impressive to bring to the table.
“Which nowadays is equivalent to receiving royal recognition.”
Twitter and Instagram are still staying hush when it comes to discussing the rules for the verified accounts.
“Some accounts are verified by Instagram to let people know that they’re authentic. If an account is verified, a blue verified badge will appear next to their name in search and on their profile.
The accounts with verified badges are some well-known public figures, celebrities and global brands on Instagram. These accounts have been given verified badges because they have a high likelihood of being impersonated, and we want to make sure that people in the Instagram community can easily find the authentic people and brands they want to follow.”
What I can tell you is who does have a little verified blue check mark next to their name. Beyoncé, Barack and Adele, obviously. But even random bloggers and ‘unknown normal people’ are able to get their names verified. So all I want to say is: keeping being social and just think of it this way, ‘you Instagram, therefore you are’ and who knows, maybe you’ll be gifted with that little blue mark and then you can change your mindset to ‘I have been verified, therefore I am.’
