5 THINGS YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT SELFIES
The selfie has become so integrated into today’s world, we hardly remember living in an era where it was not a ’thing.’ Even my own mother has started taking them. The selfie phenomenon is now even being used as a way to get the younger generation to museums. Because the difference between selfies and portraits from the seventeenth century aren’t all that different. A different craft, but a similar idea.
We might think that we know all there is to know about selfies, but I bet there were somethings you didn’t…
1. Currently, the number of people who have died because of selfies is at a grand total of twelve. Think of canyons, cars passing by, those kinds of things. Think about it this way: this past year seven people have died from shark bites. Those selfies, they’re dangerous.
2. There is a man in India who holds the world record of taking the highest amount of selfies in an hour. To get that title, he had to take 1800. That breaks down to 30 selfies a minute. Two seconds per selfie. Try giving that a go. This man even quit his job to practice.
3. Kim Kardashian’s book ‘Selfish’ didn’t sell as great as she would have likes. Only a mere 125.000 copies. Sounds like a whole lot but if you compare it to the amount of people who follow her every move, it’s a disappointing outcome.
4. Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to break the record for the amount of selfies someone can take in three minutes. But he failed. He needed at least 105 more to win the title, which is currently still held by Dwayne Johnson.
5. Selfie sticks are forbidden in most museums. How about doing the same for fashion shows too please.
