Conversation Piece Fun & Famous

Quite naturally, in addition to the fact that only a few days ago I had been shockingly brought to tears of joy by the most gorgeous ring put on my finger in Presidents Landing a.k.a. Washington, I still managed to find other points of interest in New York. Little inferior to my proposal of marriage news of course, but still, this was the talk in town this week:

1. Yayoi Kusama is back!

I remember it so clearly. It was the middle of winter, about six in the morning (?!?) and I was standing in line before the infinity room which was entitled “I who arrived in heaven” by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. She is totally hot here in New York. And in the rest of the world for that fact. But for one reason or another, it creates total chaos everywhere on this island. Now, fortunately in the summer, she’s back in Chelsea’s David Zwirner Gallery. The queue is just as long and I’m doubting whether or not to go. The last time it was as though you stepped into the heavens. A spectacular light installation in a illusional room where it was only possible to stand for a total of 45 seconds. Amazing! But to sit in that line again for her new exhibition ‘Give me Love’? I don’t know. In any case, it’s clearly not stopping the New Yorkers. They have already waited for hours.

2. Governors Ball. Drum roll…

Next week it’s time for the Governors Ball. Also known as the East Coast Coachella. Of course New Yorkers are extremely proud of this event. This music festival on Randall’s Island seems to be totally cool (sadly I have not been there yet) and the marketing machines are working overtime in this week leading up to its start. The festival vibe is pulsing through the streets, so this is definitely the talk of the town. Have you already got your ticket?

3. OMG! We can sleep in this iconic building

Madison Park has a few buildings that you should not miss. Flatiron, you know it, that super-thin thing that was once the very first Skyscraper of New York. Don’t forget the Clock Tower. With her massive bell and golden tip she is quite a picture to be admired. To top this off, this amazing location has become a super deluxe hotel that you can sleep in! Oh-my-oh-my, who has a few extra greenbacks on them? I want to sleep there!
