WEDDING DAY HANDBOOK FOR BRIDES
You so didn’t think of this
The world is colored white and dresses, bouquets and diamond rings seem everywhere. In other words wedding season is in full swing. And that means tears, sweat and a lot of stress. I’m telling you being a bride is not easy, especially not on the big day itself. But don’t panic, we will help you get through the happiest day of your life.
all clean
Before your makeup artist can do his magic on the big day it’s very important that your skin gets a thorough cleanse. This helps to keep the makeup in tact all day. A painter doesn’t paint on a dirty canvas, right? In the weeks leading up to the wedding regularly use a face-mask, at least once a week. You scrub twice a week but not on the same day you have your face-mask. Scrub your skin very lightly on the day before, just to be sure.
Muy importante: your sleep
Obviously you might think but many brides-to-be go to bed late or hardly sleep at all the days before their wedding because of nerves. Try getting to bed before ten on the night before. Sounds early but it will probably take a while before you will actually doze off. Just lie down with a good book and some classical music, that’s serenely relaxing. You’ll be snoring after about an hour and a half, be sure of that.
Puffy eyes
If you have been tossing and turning all night (I understand) and you wake up with bags under your eyes the size of eggs, two frozen spoons are a great remedy. Hold them under your eyes for a few minutes and your puff is gone.
Worst nightmare: zits
You’ve been going around with flawless radiant skin for months and today of all days you see a red volcano emerging on your chin. May will explain what to do here.
breakfast goes like this
A good breakfast is very important because without a good start you can’t walk the walk all day. Cut back on sugar in the morning. It might give you a peak but this will soon be followed by a dip and you’ll tire easily. You can have a coffee but don’t keep hanging around your espresso machine. Caffeine can enhance stress making you pricklier. My tip? Boil an egg (protein fills you up) and have it with avocado and tomato. Maybe even add a glass of carrot juice as it gives you a nice tint.
red spot?
I don’t know about you but if I’m tense my head looks as if it’s exploded, one blotch mess. A big day like this can turn you into a giant stress bomb, giving you blotchy skin. This has to do with enhanced blood circulation. Thank goodness there are creams that relax the skin and neutralize the red spots. La Roche-Posay Rosaliac makes the skin smooth and protects you against the sun (that will otherwise only worsen your red spots).
No sweat
Gushing armpits are never attractive but on your wedding day you just want to close the tap. This is another good reason for cutting back on coffee as caffeine induces sweat production. Instead of a deodorant use an anti-transpiring spray like Odaban. Make sure your bestie has a pack of wet wipes in her bag so she can discretely dab your armpits. Someone’s gotta do the dirty work, right?
Cry baby cry
Of course you are going to cry, it’s your wedding so you can cry if you want to. But try to keep your face in check (think Kim K.), thousands of pictures will be taken.
If you have a clutch (or your maid of honor does), put a little tube of foundation in there. Apply it over your tears. The foundation absorbs the moisture of your tears (didn’t know that did you?) and it touches up your imperfections.
Nail polish
I’m a great fan of gel polish for very good reasons. But if you choose to wear ordinary nail polish, ask one of your besties to bring the bottle to touch up any chips. Imagine having your ring put on your finger with chipped nails. Unacceptable.
Moment to yourself
What a lot of brides forget on the big day is planning a little break for themselves . Instruct someone to take you out of the festivities so you can take 20 minutes (or longer) for some me-time, a breather or a timeout. No one will notice.
Red wine – don’t come close to me
A glass of red wine is delicious. But on your wedding day you have to stick with stick or white or champagne. That last thing you want is a purple smile. Or even worse a red wine stain on your wedding dress.
