While Jet is delighted by a slathering of coconut, I’d rather stick to a drop of almond milk in my smoothie or settle for a little baking in olive oil. Each to her own. But the smell, yes the smell of coconut, it does make me very happy. You find it in an enormous amount of beauty products, and especially now that the summer is beginning we see that the ingredient coconut is even more prominent.

What is it; coconut?

So there are quite some discussions about coconut oil. One says that it is awfully bad for you, while the other says that there are more than enough reasons to use coconut oil. You should do what you want, but the nice thing is that there are many beauty products that use coconut. Often it’s used for the smell, because that of course just screams summer. It is also often used for it’s properties, both in summer and winter. Coconut oil is in fact made from coconut pulp dried under very high temperatures. Therefore it is not stored as fat, but as an energy source. When you eat it, it is worked in your body as energy and therefore leaves you with less cravings.

rub it in…

The use of coconut oil as a cream works tremendously well as it instantly moisturizes. Since there is such a high fat content in coconut, it leaves the skin feeling baby soft. It’s especially useful in the summer when the sun eats away at all the moisture in your skin and cellulite is also lurking. With a little coconut oil rubbed into the skin it looks a lot smoother giving you a luscious smooth layer that also looks tighter and brighter. Furthermore, coconut oil fights bacteria giving reassurance and comfort when added to your deodorant. No odors. Just to list a few more benefits of coconut in the world of beauty…

Deep working

Coconut oil is extremely hydrating and works deep into the skin. So if you are suffering from extremely dry skin, coconut works immediately. Preferably use pure coconut fats, because they are most effective. And cheap. The best of both worlds.

Acne

Officially it is not proven, but it said that coconut oil also helps to prevent acne. The oil contains lauric acid and this fights the bacteria that cause acne. So I guess it can’t hurt to smear a little coconut on your face.

Shaving cream

As mentioned, coconut oil moisturizes like an oily madman. Smear a little on your legs and use it as a shaving cream. You will be sure to have the most smooth and soft legs this summer.

Remover and primer

Coconut oil sounds pretty greasy, but when it comes to working in combination with makeup, it is up there with the best. In the evening putting a little drop on a cotton pad easily wipes away the makeup. In the morning, a little bit of coconut oil applied on clean skin and your makeup will stay in place for the rest of the day.

No more bad hair day

Having issues with fluffy hair? Not anymore. Not after you have applied a little coconut oil to your hair. Not too much of course, then it becomes a greasy mess. Just enough coconut oil to make for extremely smooth and supple hair.
