Ouch, I just realized I should have written this post in the winter because it’s about training for a serious six-pack. It isn’t some kind of last minute itch; to get this done takes a lot of time. Don’t panic though. You have to realize that a having and maintaining a real six-pack is an athletic  profession. It’s bye-bye to your cheese platter and glass of wine. Yep, this is even out of this healthy girl’s league. But hey, if you’re contemplating it, read this so you’ll know how to prepare and how it all works.

Personal schedule

Have a personal schedule made for your body and your goals. Every gym has a personal trainer who would love to do this for you. These schedules show a gradual build up. This will give you a better result and more important: a lasting result.

Take your time

“If you want to shine in summer, you train in the winter”, my boxing coach Rob always tells me. It’s true. There’s no gain in going crazy on trillions of abs-exercises for a few weeks. You need to be patient. It’s hard but it’s just the way it is. Plan at least 6 months ahead.

It’s not just the training

You can’t have a six-pack without working your abs but it also all about adjusting your diet. That might even be the hardest part. And unexpected and derailed food-athon is not on the menu.

But then it is lots and lots of training

Continuity. Don’t go crazy for a week and then take a break. You have to take into account that you’ll be at the gym 3 to 4 times a week.

Toi toi toi!
