4 x energy bar test
Drop me off at any Whole Foods and I won’t bother you for the rest of the day. If it weren’t for a suitcase stuffed with clothes and sneakers, I would stock up on as much as I could from this store. But alas, I know myself too well and all those dozens of pots and cans would just end up on my kitchen counter unopened, ready to be thrown out as soon as it reaches its expiration date. Buttttt, their energy bars are definitely being thrown into my shopping cart during the remainder of this trip. The temperature in NY was so bloody hot yesterday that Liesbeth and I decided to cool down somewhere in the shade in Central Park. I brought along 4 different energy bars I had gotten my hands on a little earlier at Whole Foods for us to try out. A foodie versus a non-foodie. And let me tell you, we were quite in line when it came to the results. Here is our review. Oh and you can also find the amount of calories they contain. I mean, we are in America for heaven’s sake.
Rise – Blueberry Coconut – 190 calories
Packaging
A tropical exterior, light blue and white with a giant coconut. Looks divine.
The energy bar itself
A dark bar (which you wouldn’t really expect) but it’s because of the blue berries. It is a little sticky which isn’t uncommon for energy bars.
Taste
It tastes really good. You can even taste the tiny raisins and that’s something I love. Even our non-foodie Liesbeth who isn’t the biggest fan of coconuts likes it.
Packaging
A fun orange color. This brand as a variety of different flavors, so the packing color varies per flavor. They kind of remind me of Rawbite.
The energy bar itself
Very light, great texture and not too soft.
Taste
This energy bar consists of only cashew nuts and dates. I love it. Not too sticky, not too sweet and you can really taste the cashew. Perfect for an afternoon snack. By far our favorite.
Raw Revolution – Chocolate Coconut Bliss – 240 calories
Raw, it means all the ingredients have been compressed without the use of any heat.
Packaging
This energy bar has a bit of an edge. Do you get what I mean? It’s as if you’re energy levels are going to sky rocket as soon as you’ve finished eating it.
The energy bar itself
It’s very dark, I’m not sure what color it is but it doesn’t look too appetizing. It’s also very sticky so as soon as you take it out of the packaging you might consider downing it as soon as you can.
Taste
Or lack there of. I wouldn’t really give it a flavor. No chocolate, no coconut. And those two usually make for an unbelievable combo.
Packaging
Cute, light green, fresh, and pocket sized.
The energy bar itself
Light yellow with little seeds. It looks pretty appetizing.
Taste
Overbearingly sweet. This energy bar is made up of a bunch of little chia seeds that haven’t been welded yet, so that means that it happens in your mouth instead. Between your teeth to be more precise. Yuk.
