THE 4 BEST PLACES FOR WINE AND CHEESE IN PARIS

For days now I’ve been looking forward to the coming weekend. Come Friday I’ll be jumping in the car and heading off to Paris. My favorite city. I speak the language, I know my way around and I adore French cuisine.

I know that normally you guys are overwhelmed by me and all my tips on healthy eating and catching me with a bag of candy is next to never seen. Here on the editing floor I sometimes drive the rest of the crew crazy with my unroasted nuts. You could also be lead to believe that a French cheese board doesn’t coincide with my fit regime, but man oh man if I had to choose just one thing that I could eat for the rest of my life, then that would be it. Even those big, super, stinky ones and the bluer and moldier the better. And all that is of course accompanied by a glass of preferably chilled red wine. Nothing makes me happier, and that’s exactly what I’l be doing every day of this coming weekend. “Une plateau du fromage et un verre de vin rouge, s’il vous plaît.”

And yeessss, the next day I’ll be jogging four laps around the Jardin de Luxembourg.
With great pleasure I present the 4 best spots for cheese and red wine. Preferably to be experienced outside on the terrace on a cool Parisian evening.

Sorry to inform you, but unless you have sat on the terrace of Cafe de Flore, you haven’t actually been to Paris. Park me here and you won’t hear a peep from me for the rest of the day. Models, writers, musicians, everyone is there. Be sure to not sit in the conservatory, choose outside or inside. Parisienne’s do not do conservatories.

172, Boulevard Saint Germain

Walk twenty meters further and you will find Les Deux Magots. It is actually the same as Café de Flore, but just a tad more touristed. No less fun though.

6, Place Saint Germain des Pres

This place has typical small French tables where you almost sit on the lap of your neighbor. They serve lovely fresh bread, wine and cheese. And there’s a lot of French people passing by.

28, Rue Vieille du Temple

Here you are sitting right on the corner of Rue Saint Honoré, so for something sweet you just need to stroll 100 meters further down the street to find yourself at Ladurée. The staff is quick but friendly, just perfect for when you are really looking forward to that little glass of something to wet your lips.

1, Rue Tronchet Paris
