Some people want to swim with sharks, other people want to go paragliding but my bucket list is mostly filled with restaurants I want to go to for dinner. The Jane for example. And Noma in Copenahagen and Mugaritz in San Sebastian. I should probably start spending less money on Net-A-Porter every month and put that money aside so I can drop by these places. Or else I can forget about it.
May-Britt sent me an email this week with a link from HarpersBazaar.com with 10 restaurants all over the world that you need to visit. The result? My bucket list is even longer now and I should probably give up on buying clothes for an entire year…
Sukiyabashi Jiro, Tokyo
Apparently this is the best sushi restaurant in the world and since I’m a sushi addict, I would do anything to check this place off of my bucket list. Plus I would love to see Tokyo too. Getting a reservation is close to impossible, you have to know someone who knows someone to get you “on the list” I’m going to do a big of digging…
You can check out their chef Jiro in a fantastic documentary called “Jiro dreams of sushi.” A documentary you might want to add to your bucket list. I guess if you watch it you can sorta say you’ve been there. Sort of.
Al Mahara Restaurant in the Burj Al Arab
from the Jumeirah Resorts, Dubai
It’s like you’re dining in an aquarium. An aquarium from the floor to the ceiling with the most exotic fish swimming around. So what do you order? Fruits de mer of course.
L’ami Jean, Paris
A real Parisian Bistro where you’ll find yourself surrounded with the coolest and best dressed people in the city. It’s small, so make sure you reserve a table a few months in advance. It’s so small that you can even hear the chef yelling in the kitchen. I love it.
Ekstedt, Stockholm
This restaurant is stove free. The cooks here work with fire pits and wood stoves. They want to take you back in time. The menu is filled with words you’ve probably never heard of before, so I hope you like surprises!
Sketch, London
Perhaps a disgrace that I haven’t been here yet, but this one is high on my bucket list of restaurants I need to go to. The interior is very Instagrammable. A pastel pink paradise on one end, and an enchanting forest on the other. According to Harpers Bazaar they have the coolest bathrooms in the world. Apparently the toilets are hidden in massive eggs that are just as high as the ceiling in a multitude of different colors. Clearly, this place deserves a visit.
