5 TIPS for yoga beginners
When I was on Ibiza for a week, I did a total of 20 hours of yoga. Let me tell you, that’s a lot and before you know it, you’ve got the “bridge” and “chair” pose down. I’m definitely not a pro, far from it actually, because there were still moments that I would be thinking about my to-do list rather than clear my head. It’s challenging to completely devote yourself to the art of yoga, but once you have it down, it’s amazing. Are you planning on starting taking yoga courses? Here are some tips for you before you start off.
- Take your time. You don’t have to be able to have everything down after just one class. You’ll probably feel very stiff and suck at it. I did too when I started and there are still a bunch of poses I have yet to perfect which drives me crazy.
- It’s all about your breathing technique. Always.
- It’s easy to do a bit of yoga at home. Make it comfortable for yourself. Crank up the heat, light some candles… YouTube is filled with workouts. Fifteen minutes is plenty if you do it a couple times a week.
- Invest in good equipment. A great mat, a good pair of yoga pants, a sports bra and a comfortable shirt.
- Google some yoga music. I mean it: this is going to sooth and calm your head.
