6 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR CONCENTRATION
Procrastination. It’s a serious issue. We’ve all done it and we all still do it. If your work consists of you being clamped behind a computer screen, staying focused for an hour straight can be a real challenge. And I mean one hundred percent focus; no checking your phone, not talking, no anything besides work. Whenever I’ve got deadlines approaching, I take drastic measures to complete my work and here is how:
1
Find an empty box and transform it into a storage box for your phone. Most importantly, give it to someone that will hold onto it for you. Your phone will be your biggest distraction, so you’ll notice that once it’s out of sight, it will (hopefully) be out of mind.
2
Try and drown out the people and noise around you. It’s so easy to get distracted by all the chit chat around you (at least for me it is), especially when you work at a busy office. Go and sit in a separate room and make use of rule number 1 above. DO NOT bring your phone.
3
Use the program called SelfControl. This program allows you to mark which websites should be blocked during certain times of the day. Facebook, Daily News, Net-A-Porter; if you head over to any of these you’ll web page with be marked with the word: error.
4
Let people around you know what you don’t have any time to talk, so you won’t be interrupted. Then light some candles, it’ll calm you down.
5
Plan something fun to do for when you’re finished with your work. Or think of a great meal you want to have afterwards.
6
Headphones; a holy grail for some people. Drowns out all the noise around you. A small tip music wise; opt for something without any vocals – you want to concentrate, remember, not sing along to whatever you’re listening to.
