9 funny facts about sleeping

Sleep is important. People who are capable of properly functioning on just four hours of sleep are going to notice the effect it has in the long run. They’ll be tired, weak, crabby and eventually almost incapable of getting out of bed. You want to avoid this. People who sleep an average of 6,5 hours a night will feel much better rested. Here are couple of other facts about sleep that I think you should know of.

  • Plenty of sleep keeps you slim. Lack of sleep will lead to an upset metabolism.
  • Lack of sleep will also effect your memory. You’ll start forgetting things, perhaps even be a bit hazy and out of it. The more often you don’t get a proper amount of sleep, the more quicker these side effects will pop up.
  • Smoothies with milk and bananas help. If you’re having a hard time falling asleep, make one. Some well educated Australian researched it so why not give it a shot.
  • Counting sheep won’t help you at all. Turn on some music instead. Music that consists of hearing streaming water. It’ll help you doze off right away. Might want to make sure you head to the bathroom first though…
  • Sleeping in isn’t all too healthy. Too much sleep will make you tired. Try and stick to 6,5 to 8 hours of sleep.
  • The world record of ‘staying awake the longest’ is currently at 18 days, 21 hours and 40 minutes, after which the man started hallucinating, started showing signs of paranoia and his memory was failing him. Yikes.
  • When you’re asleep, on average you move around every ten minutes. So roughly forty times a night. According to sleeping experts we need to do this for proper blood circulation.
  • Most dreams last an average of 20 minutes.
  • The ideal room temperate when you’re sleeping is 20 degrees. With an open window for some fresh air.
