ALWAYS BUSY WITH ‘ALL KINDS OF THINGS’?

Our editor Kiki is here to teach you a thing or two

Just to cut straight to the point: never neglect yourself. Seriously. It’s important to think of others of course, but if you’re running from one appointment to the other, your phone is glued to your ear and the bags under your eyes are growing their own spawn, things aren’t going all that well. It’s time for me-time.

Here’s the roadmap to serenity:

Step 1: at least one massage a month

Escaping reality for an hour, lying on a massage table fully relaxed and just taking in the moment… Come on, this should be obligatory.

Step 2: a spontaneous getaway

May-Britt’s really good at this and she can recommend it to everyone.

Step 3: a visit to the hairdresser

There’s nothing better than getting your hair fixed to perfection on a random day. Even if it’s just to parade the streets nonchalantly with your amazing hairdo. No shame in your game.

Step 4: taking a calorie-filled cheat day

Buy that delicious pie. The one you never let yourself buy. Especially not when you’re all alone. Yup, that pie. You’re getting it. And eating it, flat out on the couch whilst binge-watching your favorite show.

Step 5: say ‘no’ more often

To friends that want to drink wine during the week when you’re already tired, to your phone, to too much work pressure, to doing things for someone else that take a lot of time and to other commitments. It’s simple as that: just say ‘no’.

Step 6: had a rough day?

Get yourself to the fanciest hotel near you ASAP and order a large cuppa coffee with cake on the side. Candlesticks, piano music, silver spoons and sexy waiters are included.

Step 7: this is okay on a busy day…

Call a cab. And enjoy the view of your fellow travelers that are getting washed away by the rain at your daily bus stop.

Step 8: a mani/pedi

There’s nothing a manicure can’t fix. Call up a friend and catch up while the both of you are getting a gorgeous and soft pair of hands and feet.

Still not feeling zen after this? Geez, you must be really down and out. Oh well, nothing left to do then start over this step-by-step plan. Such a shame…
