breakfast in bed

Nothing makes me happier than kickstarting the day with a proper breakfast. Whether it’s at home, somewhere out the door, or in bed. And the latter is what I want to talk about today (perhaps it’ll inspire you for tomorrow morning. Or the weekend). Because how and what do you serve in the bedroom?

What do you serve?

Don’t make it too complicated for yourself. Don’t overstuff your sandwich or fill your glass up to the tip with orange juice. All this is going to result in are spills and dirty sheets. Besides, you’ve only just woken up, so I’m assuming you’re not in the mood for a huge English Breakfast just yet. I wouldn’t be at least.

–       A hard boiled egg is always a good idea. Make sure to peel it in the kitchen before serving it. Will save you the hassle.

–       Make an extra big fruit salad with shredded mint (for the special touch) and serve it with two forks. Perfect bit of romance for your morning.

–       Slice a grapefruit into two pieces and use a knife to cute the skin loose from the peel. All that’s left to do is use a spoon to spoon it out.

–       Something else you can slice in half is an avocado. Add some olive oil to both pieces, some lemon juice and a bit of salt and pepper.

–       Toast is chic. Especially when you cut them into triangular pieces. Exactly how they always serve it in hotels.

–       Pancakes are easy to make and always festive.

–       Make a smoothie with a bunch of different fruit. Healthy and easy to drink.

How do you serve it?

On a platter of course. Or on a bedside table. Be careful when it comes to hot tea and coffee. You might as well leave it out because spills are inevitable. Men, if you happen to be reading along: don’t work with flowers, candles or teddy bears. Same goes for pre-made juices. Fresh is key here.

PS. Because crumbs can still be a struggle. An extra blanket on top of your bed covers won’t hurt.
