DRAMA: BUYING A GIFT FOR YOUR GUY

Alright, ten more days. TEN more days until my boy turns a year older. Just like he does every year. Why do I always manage to leave buying him a birthday present to the last minute. What am I supposed to get him? HELP.

My guy has a thing for planes. A few years back I thought it would be a great idea to give him his ‘own flight’ as a birthday gift. Including a mini flying certificate. Cool, right? I bought him a coupon. He loved it. A year later, the coupon had expired because he ‘hadn’t had any time’ after which he had forgotten about it. I was furious. But then on the other hand: I’ve had quite an expensive coupon for a weekend getaway to a fancy castle waiting for me on my nightstand. But we can’t find any time. Long story short: coupons suck when they’ve got expiration dates. And buying a present for a guy in general just plain old sucks.

So I asked around the office to see whether anyone here had any inspiration for me to surprise my guy on his birthday.

1.  Something for the barbecue or other kitchen utensils

Guys are always in charge of the grill, right? According to our fashion director it’s always a good idea to buy something for your barbecue and if he doesn’t have one yet, get him one. If you want to get something a little less expensive, buy him some kitchen utensils. Like robust cutting boards or knives, or a leather apron (gotta keep it manly).

2. Sneakers

Our health editor Jet said: “Shoes are always a great idea. For my guy they are, at least.”

3.  ANYTHING from Apple

Might be quite an investment but anything from Apple is always a good idea. Men like practical gifts.

4. A fancy dinner

Give a guy some great food and he’ll go to bed content. How about you take him to a chic Michelin star restaurant? Trust me, he’ll repay you in all the right ways if you catch my drift.

5. Kidnap him

A weekend getaway to catch some rays of sunshine sounds divine. Plus, it’s sort of a treat for yourself too. What makes it more fun is if you surprise him. Pack a bag for the two of you, blindfold him and drive to your nearest airport.

6. The droid from Star Wars

This was a tip from one of our male editors. To be honest I had to Google it, but the real movie addicts will know what it is. Something else cool: a CubeBot. It’s kind of like a wooden robot puzzle. Drones work well for the opposite sex too.

7. A rad experience

Think of a hot air balloon ride, sky diving or flying in a helicopter. Men like a bit of adrenaline.
