What everyone wants: Elsa’s hair

these 5 steps will transform you into a winter princess

You really don’t have to go through winter with a frizzy head of hair. I mean, even Elsa from Frozen breezes through a climate that makes -10 degrees feel like summer with a beautiful head of hair. As you probably know, she has some tricks up her sleeve in order to achieve this and I feel I should let you in on the secret too. After all, the world would be a much prettier place if the streets were filled with Elsa lookalikes.

Everything is dry and sluggish in the winter, but with a couple drops of oil you can give it that little bit of extra care it needs. It sounds very greasy, but it doesn’t have to be if you use natural oils. You also don’t have to empty an entire bottle of oil all at once. The point is that your hair could do with a just a smidgen of oil. It also helps to rub a little oil on your scalp before bed, so that it can set into your skin throughout the night. Make sure to wash your hair thoroughly the next morning and your locks will result end up feeling smooth and they’ll shine once more.

It’s not so surprising that your hair feels incredibly damaged when you factor in the dry air and the cold. All the more reason to give your hairdo an extra sip; hydration is key. Look for products that are high in nutrients, but low in aggressive chemicals. It is the absolute last thing your hair needs right now, or ever.

I totally get that you’d love to step under a hot shower or get in an even hotter tub in the morning as well as in the evening, but beware. At least when your hair is involved. If you wash your hair too often, it’ll dry out. Once every three days should be more than enough and if not, a dry shampoo also works wonders.

We’ve told you countless times already to protect your hair before blow drying or straightening it, but this is all the more important during the winter. When you put a hot blow dryer to your hair, you lose even more of the moisture in your hair. Use a colder setting. It might take a little bit longer, but your hair will shine brighter and it will thank you for it.

If all else fails, this seems to be the way to go. But actually, it’s also a really good idea to make sure that your hair doesn’t fly up in every direction and at the same time your hair’s protected against the dramatic weather conditions we deal with in Europe.
